Srinagar, November 26 (KNO) : Stating that the people in northern Kashmir don’t support militancy, Army on Monday said that killing few militants in encounters in north Kashmir doesn’t mean that militancy is taking shift from South to north. Talking to media persons on the sidelines of a free medical camp organized by Army in Handwara, Brigadier Daram Raj Rai said that it would be premature to say that the militancy is taking a shift from South to north. “Manan Wani was killed was killed in an encounter here as he had come to north with some plan here and got killed,” he said as per KNO correspondent, adding that the people don't support militancy related activities and don’t provoke militancy here. “Killing few militants here in northern belts doesn’t mean that militancy is taking a shift from South to North now,” he added. However, he didn’t divulge the number of militants active in north Kashmir, saying that Rajwar area has always been calm.Pertinently, Army in Rajwar had organised a free medical camp for the general public in which scores of men, women and children of different age group took part and availed the free medical facility.(KNO)
